In chapter five, we witness the reunion of Gatsby and Daisy after five years of being apart. Carraway allows Gatsby to meet Daisy in his house. Gatsby, very conscientious of what Daisy thinks, makes sure that the lawn is cut for her, in addition to flowers and lemons being placed everywhere. He is obviously filled with anxiety, due to the five-years-worth of tension and longing built-up inside him. Gatsby, very much cares what Daisy thinks, nervous to even talk to her when she arrives.
The meeting with Gatsby and Daisy is very awkward at first, but soon enough they became naturally reacquainted with one another. The rain even stopped outside, as a symbol of their warm relationship. Gatsby, then, pleasantly overwhelms her with his rich and lavish lifestyle as they play around with his clothing. Their relationship seems very hopeful as they look towards the Buchanan's green light on the other side of the bay. Daisy seems much more comfortable with Gatsby, than she was with Tom. Gatsby lets go of his facade in this chapter, as we see a new, more sensitive side of him; maybe we even see the true him.
